Gale Force

When Dorothy and Toto went over the rainbow, they left a very worried Auntie Em behind. Told from a modern day setting, and outlining the issues that so many people face with the state family law and custody system, Gale Force tells the story that family is what you make of it.

Characters:

Emily Gale: Early to mid 30’s female. She is a tough, no-nonsense farmer’s wife who is unable to have children. She has a good heart and a kind face, though the stress she feels is worn in thick lines and makes her seem much older than she is.

Henry Gale: Emily’s Husband, late 30’s. He wanted to be a family man, but luck and finances has other plans. Lost his faith in God a long time ago.

Officer Barton: County Sherriff. Any age or gender.

Frank Lyman: A Child protective services worker. Male. Any age, but he is new to the job.

Clara : [voice only] DeeDee’s biological mother who has died of a heroin overdose before the play begins.

Detective Thompson: [voice only] A NYC detective.
